The LORD called Samuel a third time, and Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." Then Eli realized that the LORD was calling the boy. 9 So Eli told Samuel, "Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, 'Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.' " So Samuel went and lay down in his place. (I Samuel 3: 89)

5When
Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?" 6He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. (John 6: 5-6)
Page 3: “There is something in every one of you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself. It is the only true guide you will ever have. And if you cannot hear it, you will all of your life spend your days on the ends of strings that somebody else pulls.” Howard Thurman
Page 4: It is a sad thing to live an uncalled life. We have a whole generation who has nothing more to do with their lives than what they decide. Vocation is a great blessing.
Walter Brueggemann

• To Salvation • To Serve • To Work with God in Searching for Our Purpose and God’s Calling for our Lives.
Page 6: We are each called to something.
Discovering what that something is becomes the major task of life.

Page 8: Elements of Vocation
What Does the world need?
What am I good at?
What do I love to do (passion)?
What is God saying to me?
Page 9: What Are You Afraid Of?
• • • • • Afraid of being wrong Afraid of what others will think. Afraid of What You Will Have to Sacrifice Afraid of Not Being Good Enough Afraid of the Unknown
Page 10: It is impossible to learn what you need to learn about who you are without risking being wrong, making mistakes, making a fool of yourself.
Page 11: [For] God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. (2 Tim 2:7)

Page 13: Is To Figure Out Your Purpose in Life
YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE….
Page 14: What if purpose is not something we receive from God but something we create together with God? …What if purpose is not something we discover but something we help design? What if, more than anything else, God wants you to experience the joy of searching out and choosing your own purpose in life among a vast assortment of opportunities? What is there is no detailed plan for your life but an open outline and an invitation from God to you to creatively and deliberately fill in the spaces?
Kirk Byron Jones
Page 15: "For I know the plans that I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Jeremiah 29:11
Page 16: My Prayer This Morning… I pray that you open my eyes so that I may see my past, my present, and my future the way you see my past, my present, and my future. Let me see not a string of failures and missed opportunities, but a string of lessons and reshaping and remolding and preparing me for what you want to do with me. This morning I begin my day knowing that my future is open. My possibilities are endless. My choices are unlimited. My future is bright. Come, Lord, let us see what we shall together choose for me as my calling.
