The PB chipformer features a single cavity with a positive rake, neutral shoulder angle, and a honed edge. It is actually a C-type chipformer with a different frontal edge. It is an excellent solution for parting bearing steel and other very ductile materials. It can be used at low feed: .0012 to .0040 ipr. The combination of the new chipformer and IC908 grade provides excellent chipbreaking and tool life results (see the attached field report). The PENTA 34-PB is available in a .060 to .118 inch width range, made from the versatile IC908 PVD coated grade. The new family extends the application range of ISCAR’s most economical grooving and parting PENTA 34 inserts.
